Ryder's Mountain

For my non-Alpha friends, claims are like your 'houses' in EQ2, except that it's out in the world.  Anyone can come onto your land, but cannot build/damage unless they have access(disregarding the current state of alpha's access).  There's no zoning.  Whatever was there on the land when you claimed it will still be there when you claim it.

This is the place I choose to claim on the first night of Alpha.  I got lucky and never lost my claim.

  1. So each of those flags on the overhead map are claims?

Very interesting. So far it looks like an uber version of Minecraft. I just wonder what it'll be like a few years down the road...landscape infested with buildings? No more claims for new users? Hm.

  2. Yes each flag is a claim. there is a 'buffer' around each claim that you can't see on the map. So you can't have a claim right up against someone else's claim.

Right now there isn't much room for new players so that will be a problem down the road and I have no idea how they plan to handle that except to keep adding zones or more of the same zones.

The claims are spaced far enough apart that the landscape doesn't look too terrible and it's neat to run around and run across someone house.

Keep in mind that there's also harvesting, but you can't harvest on claims. The buffer helps and there's still a lot of space to gather, but it's one of my concerns. More people, more claims, less ground to harvest?
